All shooters, including Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War, share the same fundamental idea to succeed. Shoot your opponent first and better in order to put them down before they put you down. This boils down into choosing the weapons with the fastest time to kill to prevent them from being able to engage in a firefight with you at all. There are definitely better weapons to use but most of them have their own situations that they excel in. These can be modified with attachments to increase their effectiveness and firing style. In addition to these attachments, you can further modify your playstyle with perks to give yourself an edge over the competition. All of these things combined give you a pretty good chance to come out on top, but if you need a little bit of a head start then you will want to use the best weapons.
The MP5 has always occupied a top place in Call of Duty’s best guns and it should be no surprise that it has found its place on this list too. With a damage output between 32 to 23 and a rate of fire of 857 the MP5 has a time to kill between 280 and 420 milliseconds. Combine that with the right attachments you will be nigh unstoppable. The 9.5” Ranger barrel will increase bullet velocity for more accurate shots. The Field Agent Grip increases both vertical and horizontal recoil control. The STANAG 50 Rnd Drum will upgrade the number of bullets and reload speed. Equipping the Airborne Elastic Wrap will increase your aim down sight time and flinch resistance. Finally, the Raider Stock will increase your sprint to fire time and aim down walking speed.
It should further be no surprise that an LMG appears on this list and the RPD is pretty sweet. The RPD deals between 38 and 34 damage so with a rate of fire 652 the RPD can put down an enemy between 276 to 368 milliseconds. You can further increase this weapon’s deadliness by equipping it with the right attachments. For improved sights you will want to equip the Millstop Reflex optic. Follow up with the Spetsnaz Compensator which will increase vertical recoil control. You will also want the 20.3” Task Force barrel for even better recoil control and bullet velocity. The Tiger Team Spotlight body will increase your reveal distance to allow you to get the first shot off on unsuspecting enemies. Equipping the Spetsnaz Grip will further increase your horizontal and vertical recoil control. For increased reload speed you will need the Fast Mag attachment. To make the most out of every bullet the GRU Elastic Wrap will provide flinch resistance and better aim down sight time. Last but not least you will also want the KGB Skeletal Stock to increase sprint to fire time and aim walking movement speed.
The tried-and-true MAC-10 makes yet another appearance on a top ten list and for good reason. The MAC-10 deals between 27 and 22 damage and has a rate of fire of 1111. With these two factors the MAC-10 can kill an enemy in 270 to 324 ms but you can definitely make this gun more effective. First and foremost, you will want to throw on a Socom Eliminator. This muzzle attachment will increase vertical recoil control as well as muzzle flash concealment. The 5.3” Ranger barrel will maximize bullet velocity. Next up you will want the Field Agent Grip which will increase both vertical and horizontal recoil control. With the Salvo 53 Rnd Fast Mag you will have increased ammo capacity and starting ammo, with a fast reload speed. Finally, the Airborne Elastic Wrap is a must for increased aim down sights in addition to flinch resistance.
Up next is what I like to call “Baby’s First AK-47” aka the AK-74u. This fully automatic submachine gun is packing some serious power. It can deal from 27 to 38 damage with a rate of fire of 697. This means it can put down an enemy somewhere between 258 and 430 ms. If that wasn’t good enough for you then you will want to equip some attachments to up this bad boy’s deadliness. First you will want the GRU Suppressor which will increase vertical recoil control as well as muzzle flash concealment. Combine that with the 10.3” Liberator for increased bullet velocity. The Spetsnaz Grip is your next stop for increased vertical and horizontal recoil control. For increased starting ammo, ammo capacity, and reload quickness you will want the VDV Rnd Fast Mag. Finally, the GRU Elastic Wrap will increase aim down sights time and increase flinch resistance.
6. Stoner 63
To put it bluntly the Stoner 63 is one hell of an LMG and definitely should be something you keep an eye on. The Stoner 63 is capable of dealing between 32 and 42 damage and has a rate of fire of 722. This means that the Stoner 63 can take out an enemy between 249 and 332 ms. With attachments this LMG is even more effective so take a look at these attachments. The Hawksmoor optic will provide increased visuals and allow you to spot enemies at greater distances. The Infantry Compensator muzzle increases vertical recoil control and the 18.6” Division Barrel increases bullet velocity for deadly accuracy. The Steady Aim Laser further increases hip fire accuracy while the Field Agent Grip will round out your accuracy with increased vertical and horizontal recoil control. The 100 Rnd Speed Mag is another attachment you will want for its increased ammo capacity and reload quickness. The Airborne Elastic Wrap is also great for the Stoner 63 because who doesn’t want increased aim down sights and flinch resistance? In the end the Raider Pad will round out your attachments for increased sprint to fire time and aim walking movement speed.
That’s right it’s time for another LMG and this one is the M60. The M60 is a fully automatic light machine gun that can deal between 44 and 50 damage with a rate of fire of 517. With these stats that means the M60 can put an enemy down in 232 to 348 ms. While the M60 is already good, it can certainly get better. Start by equipping the Hawkmoor optic for increased sights. The Infantry Compensator will increase vertical recoil control. Next you will want the 228” Match Grade Barrel for increased bullet velocity. The Ember Sighting Point is a must for increased hip fire accuracy and reveal distance. The Field Agent Grip will further increase horizontal and vertical recoil control. For increased starting ammo, ammo capacity and reload quickness the Salvo 125 Rnd Fast Mag is a must pick as well. Lastly you will want the Airborne Elastic wrap for increased aim down sights and flinch resistance as well as the Raider Pad for increased sprint to fire time and aim walking movement speed.
The Diamatti may come as a surprise as it is only a handgun, but don’t let that fool you. The Diamatti is capable of dealing between 25 and 30 damage with a rate of fire of 1111. On average it can kill an enemy in between 216 and 270 ms. In order to really shine you will want the right attachments for the job. To start you will want to dual wield these babies with the Akimbo perk. After that equip the Agency Suppressor for vertical recoil control and muzzle flash concealment. The 7.2” Task Force Barrel will give much needed bullet velocity to these handguns. The SWAT 5m Laser Sight will increase hip fire accuracy and essential to using the Diamatti Akimbo style. Finally, the Salvo 30 Rnd Fast Mag will increase reload quickness as well as ammo capacity and starting ammunition.
3. KSP 45
The KSP 45 is a 3 round burst submachine gun that can definitely keep up with the effectiveness of fully automatic SMGs. It can deal 35 damage up to 50 and with a rate of fire of 722 it can drop an enemy in 166 to 400 ms. When it comes to attachments you will want to start with the Sound Suppressor which will reduce muzzle flash. The 10.2” Rifled Barrel is great to increase bullet velocity. Up next is the trusty Field Agent Grip which increases both horizontal and vertical recoil control. The Salvo 48 Rnd Fast Mag will increase reload quickness as well as ammo capacity for an increased number of accurate shots. Finally, the Airborne Elastic Wrap will increase aim down sights and flinch resistance to allow you to stand your ground when under fire.
The AUG is an excellent choice when it comes to tactical rifles thanks to its burst fire and high damage. In fact, it does a minimum of 38 damage and a max of 51. With a rate of fire of 857 the AUG has a time to kill of 154 to 421 ms. If this wasn’t deadly enough for you then let’s add some attachments to make it just right. For starters the Kobra Red Dot optic will improve your sighting of enemies to help you line up your shots. The Infantry Compensator increases vertical recoil which is extremely helpful for burst fire weapons. The 19.8” Task Force barrel increases bullet velocity to make each of your shots count. The Jungle-Style Mag will increase reload quickness allowing you stay in the action rather than hiding behind cover reloading. Lastly the tried-and-true Airborne Elastic Wrap works great for the AUG as it will increase aim down sights and flinch resistance.
The best of best goes to none other than the M16. This 3 round burst tactical rifle packs quite a punch dealing between 40 and 50 damage with a rate of fire of 909. This means it can drop an enemy in as little as 132 ms and at the most 458 ms. Of course, this is only the beginning because with the right attachments it is even better. The Millstop Reflex optic provides a magnified sight for spotting foes at distance. The 20.5” Task Force barrel increases damage and bullet velocity for extra power. The Salvo 54 Rnd Fast Mag gives you more ammunition to kill more enemies and the quicker reload will let you do it all that much faster. The Airborne Elastic Wrap makes another appearance because its increased aim down sights and flinch resistance is just that good. Finally, the Raider Pad increases sprint to fire time as well aim walking movement speed to completely round out this fantastic weapon.
Using the best guns will certainly give you an edge, but it doesn’t hurt to have some bit of skill to back these weapons up. Using the best weapons will let you stay in the game longer and therefore be able to get in more practice. Ultimately you will want to find a gun that feels comfortable to use but it doesn’t hurt to start with some great options such as these. After you have found a gun that feels good in your hands slap on camo to truly make it your own, and while it won’t necessarily affect your gameplay it will certainly make you feel cool with the right camo.
