Call of Duty Blacks Ops Cold War Zombies gives you plenty of weapon choices, upgrades, and attachments. But not all weapons are created equal and you will notice that some are much better than others. Different players can have drastically different play styles, such as those who prefer to sit back and slink through the shadows versus those who like to be in your face, firing from just a few feet away. You can learn tips for various playstyles by watching some of the best Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War streamers.
Since there are so many weapons to choose from, we’ve compiled a list of the top 10 best ones in Cold War Zombies. Be sure to get yourself set up with the best real life equipment as well, such as headsets and other accessories, so that both you and your character can have a great time.
The Krig 6 is a fully automatic assault rifle that you can unlock at level 16. Its best statistics are its accuracy (52) and firepower (47), though it does have a decent reload speed as well. This is a good choice for those of you who enjoy splattering zombie brains with headshots. As the base weapon, you get a magazine size of 30. However, the Blitzkrig 99 (Krig 6’s pack-a-punch upgrade) has a magazine size of 60. So, you’ll have no problem plowing through the undead with ease.
In Call of Duty, you can also have a variety of attachments on your weapons to upgrade them even further. For the Krig 6, the best attachments are the Diamondback Reflex optic, Muzzle Brake 5.56 muzzle, 19.7” Takedown barrel, Ember Sighting Point body, Field Agent Grip underbarrel, Airborne Elastic Wrap handle, and Raider Stock. You can get a magazine attachment as well, but you won’t need it if you get the pack-a-punch. Most weapons can support only five attachments max, so you’ll have to choose carefully.
The MP5 is a fully automatic submachine gun (SMG) which unlocks at level 4. It is a good weapon for fast-paced, close-range combat with an accuracy of 49 and speed of 47. It has a 30-round magazine size so, like with any SMG, you need to be careful about just spraying a constant hail of bullets at your enemies. That said, this weapon can be upgraded with pack-a-punch to get the MP115 Kollider, which has additional ammo and more damage. So, you’ll go through less ammo, granted that you know how to aim.
The best attachments for the MP5 are the Agency Suppressor muzzle, 9.1” Rifled barrel, SWAT 5mw Laser Sight body, Field Agent Grip underbarrel, 40 Round Speed Mag magazine, Airborne Elastic Wrap handle, and No Stock. You can get an optic attachment to increase the magnification, but this isn’t all that helpful for SMG’s, since most of the gameplay with them is close combat.
The Magnum is a vicious double action revolver that unlocks at level 31, meaning you’ll need to work for this weapon but it’s so worth it. It deals a lot of damage with its highest stat being firepower (60). When you upgrade it with pack-a-punch, the Magnum changes its name to Private Eye, and it deals even more damage. This is another weapon that is great for headshots.
The best attachments for the Magnum are the Infantry Compensator muzzle, 4.7” Takedown barrel, SWAT 5mw Laser Sight body, Salvo 12 RND Fast Mag, and Dual Wield stock. The Dual Wield stock is the only stock available for the Magnum and it’s cool because it lets you use two of them at once.
The AK-47 is a classic in many first person shooter (FPS) games, including the Call of Duty series. This is another fully automatic assault rifle that you can get at level 7. It has a decent firepower stat (50) and is good for mid-range combat. When upgraded with pack-a-punch, the AK-47 becomes Rasputin’s Retribution. Besides having a really cool name, this upgrade also gives the AK-47 higher damage and more ammo.
The best attachments for the AK-47 are the Kobra Red Dot optic, KGB Eliminator muzzle, 18.2” VDV Reinforced barrel, Steady Aim Laser body, Spetsnaz Grip underbarrel, VDV 50 RND Fast Mag magazine, Gru Elastic Wrap handle, and Tactical Stock. With the right attachments, this weapon gives you almost no recoil and a lot more control, meaning you can be deadly even at a distance.
6. Gallo SA12
The Gallo SA12 is a semi-automatic shotgun that deals a lot of damage (firepower 70) with a pellet spread. As with any shotgun, this is one for close combat. It has low accuracy, so it’s not a good choice for those of you who prefer to sneak through the shadows. As a base weapon, the Gallo SA12 has 9 shells. When upgraded with pack-a-punch, this weapon becomes the H-NGM-N which can fire 21 shells at once, with each shell having an additional 3 shots.
For the Gallo SA12, the best attachments are the Agency Choke muzzle, 24.8” Task Force, SWAT 5mw Laser Sight body, STANAG 12 Round Tube magazine, and Field Tape handle. Again, you can get an optic attachment for this weapon, but it probably won’t serve much of a purpose. These attachments can increase accuracy as well as damage from longer ranges.
The Knife is a classic and simple melee weapon that’s perfectly for hacking through enemies. In fact, it is lethal enough to kill some enemies with a single strike. This weapon unlocks at level 13 and becomes the default melee if you have the first rank melee skill unlocked but nothing equipped. With the pack-a-punch upgrade, the knife becomes even more powerful and is renamed the Closing Argument. The name pretty much says it all.
4. D.I.E Shockwave
In order to get the D.I.E. Shockwave, which is in the wonder weapon class, you must go through several steps. First, turn on power and repair the pack-a-punch machine. After this, you will kill the Megaton enemy, take the golden keycard, and head to the Weapons Lab in the Facility building. Use the keycard on the computer which is on the wall across the room from the Mystery Box. Doing so will spawn the D.I.E. Remote Control, which you can use to activate the D.I.E. Machine in the Living Room of the Nacht Der Undertoten building. A hoard of zombies will come at you. Kill enough of them and you can discharge the machine, blowing the door off of the room inside. It is here that you will find a corpse holding the D.I.E. Shockwave.
The D.I.E. Shockwave deals an incredible amount of damage and can be upgraded in four different ways. As a base weapon, it fires an energy blast with a range similar to that of a shotgun. With pack-a-punch, you can upgrade it with ice, toxic, lightning, and fire elements.
3. Hauer 77
The Hauer 77 is a pump-action shotgun that has the potential for a one-shot kill in close combat. This weapon unlocks at level 7. It has a very high firepower rating (75) and moderate rechamber speed. After the pack-a-punch upgrade, this weapon turns into the Orion 777. With this upgrade, you can even higher damage output and additional rounds.
The best attachments to use with the Hauer 77 are the Duckbill Choke muzzle, 25.2” Task Force barrel, SWAT 5mw Laser Sight body, STANAG 8 Round Tube magazine, Serpent Wrap handle, and Marathon Stock. These attachments give you more accuracy, a wider pellet spray, and additional shells.
2. Ray Gun
The Ray Gun is definitely one of the more cartoonish weapons on our list, but this thing is fierce. It is available at any level with a little bit of luck. You can find this wonder weapon in the Mystery Boxes which are scattered around the D.I.E. Maschine map. You may also get one if you complete the Coffin Dance Easter Egg. This is easily one of the deadliest guns in the game and becomes even more lethal when upgraded with pack-a-punch. It’s an absolute must-have for later rounds.
Our final and best weapon for Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Zombies is the M16 3-round burst tactical rifle, which unlocks at level 10. It has great accuracy (59) and firepower (48). With the Skullsplitter pack-a-punch upgrade, you get a 6-round burst, longer range, and higher damage. This is a great weapon for taking down enemies from a distance.
The best attachment for the M16 are the Millstop Reflex optic, Silencer muzzle, 20.5” Task Force barrel, Steady Aim Laser body, Field Agent Foregrip underbarrel, 45 Round magazine, Airborne Elastic Wrap handle, and Raider Pad stock.
As you can see, there are many different ways that you can take down enemies in Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Zombies. Be sure to play around with the different options and find the best weapon that works for your individual play style. And don’t forget about all the fancy attachments and pack-a-punch upgrades to really show those zombies who’s boss.
