To hear them, and your COD game better, also check out some of the best headsets available. It’s fun to change up your weapon and it’s definitely easy to appreciate all of the awesome designs available. Check out our list of the best weapon camos in COD Black Ops Cold War to start letting your personality shine.
For those of you that appreciate a more retro look, the Groovy camo is the one for you. With bright yellow, orange, red, and blue, this camo definitely gives off that 70’s vibe. This camo comes as part of the Psychedelic camo pack, along with Seducer, Blush, Melancholy, and Bliss.
All of these are pretty cool but Groovy is the easiest one to obtain. It unlocks at weapon level 50 and requires you to get a multi-kill (2 or more kills in rapid succession) five times in a multiplayer mode. As you can imagine, this would be pretty hard to do with a sniper rifle. Your best bet for unlocking this camo is close range combat. This means SMG’s, LMG’s, shotguns, and grenades. Of course, there are many weapons that you can use to achieve multi-kills. So, you’ll just have to pick the method that works best for you.
Degeneration features a sleek purple look for those of you that prefer to be one with the shadows. It is part of the Brushstroke pack which includes Extortion, Downfall, Drench, and Chemical.
The process to get Degeneration is a bit more complicated. First, you’ll need to unlock pack-a-punch. To do this, turn on the power in Die Maschine and activate the terminals in the Particle Accelerator Room. Enter the Aether Portal and make your way to the Weapons Lab. Collect the machine part and head back to the Particle Accelerator Room. While still in the portal, use the machine part to forge pack-a-punch.
You can then use pack-a-punch on the XM4. Once you’ve done this, use the XM4 to kill 250 enemies in COD Zombies. You can also unlock Degeneration on a pack-a-punched Knife (weapon level 10) with 125 kills. Lastly, you can get Degeneration for the launcher (weapon level 10) by using a Cigma 2 to kill 5 or more enemies with a single shot for a total of 125 kills.
Banished is another camo that has a pretty creepy vibe to it. With black and green swirls, this definitely has an other-worldly vibe to it.
Banished comes as part of Liquid pack, along with Wasteland, Amphibian, Boundary, and Threshold. There’s a bit of a toxic wasteland feel here as well. To get banished for the standard weapon, kill 2,500 enemies with critical hits in Zombies. For the launcher (weapon level 5), use the Cigma 2 in Zombies to get 50 multi-kills. The Knife (weapon level 5) has a two-step process to unlock Banished. First, disorient your enemy with a Stun Grenade, Monkey Bomb, or Decoy in Zombies. Then, kill them while they are disoriented. Do this 50 times and you’ll get the Banished Knife.
The Teleport camo is a good one for you sci-fi geeks. The pattern is a combination of black and cool colors that looks reminiscent of hyper speed in many sci-fi movies and shows. Perhaps this is an indication of how quickly you’ll blaze through your enemies with this camo equipped. It is part of the Science packs, which also has the Cosmonaut, Decipher, Integer, and Policia.
To get the Teleport camo, you’ll need to take out enemies that falsely believe they are safe from you. Kill 5 enemies taking cover in multi-player.
6. Cherry Blossom
The Cherry Blossom is perfect for people who want to look pretty while slaughtering their enemies. It is decorated with cherry blossom flowers and painted in nice, light pastels. Cherry Blossom comes in the Flora pack, which has other nature-oriented selections; Frith, Old Growth, Nectar, and Lumber.
To get the Cherry Blossom, you’ll need to off 75 enemies that are detected, stunned, or blinded by Scorestreaks, Equipment, or Field Upgrades in multiplayer mode.
5. Blue Tiger
The Blue Tiger camo takes the classic tiger print and gives it a sleek edge with dark blue coloring. It is a good choice for players that want to feel like natural predators hunting their prey. The Blue Tiger camo is part of the Fauna pack, which has several animalistic camos; Growl, Scavenger, Zebra, and Rising Tiger.
Blue Tiger unlocks at weapon level 30 for standard weapons, level 20 for launchers, and level 20 for the Knife. For the standard weapon, get 10 kills in rapid succession 8 times using the XM4 in Zombies. For the launcher, get 8 Elite Eliminations with the Cigma 2 in Zombies. For the Knife, kill 8 Elite Zombies using the Knife.
4. Golden Viper
The Golden Viper is one of the three Mastery camos available for your weapon in Zombies. It is much harder to get than basic camos, but its vicious, golden snakeskin design makes it so worth it. Spew your venom as you plow through your enemies.
In order to get the Golden Viper, you will need to have unlocked all 35 Zombie camos for your weapon. You’ll need to use the XM4 in Zombies mode for each of these. In total, you’ll need 2,500 regular kills, 2,500 critical hit (headshot) kills, 2,500 pack-a-punch XM4 kills, 15 Elite Zombie kills, 10 kills rapidly 10 times, 3 or more critical hit kills rapidly 25 times, and 20 consecutive kills without taking a hit 10 times. Of course, these numbers are all spread out among five camos for each type. It seems like a lot but just stick with it.
3. Dark Matter
The Dark Matter, also called Dark Matter Ultra or DM Ultra, is one of the three Mastery camos available in the regular Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War game. This is another camo that has a sci-fi feel to it with its dark purple and black design.
There are several steps you need to take to get the Dark Matter camo. To get Dark Matter, you need to unlock the Diamond camo for all available weapon classes. To get Diamond, you need to unlock the Gold camo for each weapon within a single class. To get Gold, you’ll need to unlock all 35 multiplayer camos for each weapon.
For example, unlocking all 35 multiplayer camos for the XM4 will get you the Gold XM4. Unlocking the Gold camo for every assault rifle gets you the Diamond camo for that weapon class. Getting the Diamond camo for every weapon class unlocks Dark Matter.
2. Plague Diamond
Plague Diamond is another Mastery camo available in COD Zombies. This camo is interesting because it covers the entire weapon. So, your whole gun will appear in this flashy hot pink color. This is definitely one of the more cartoonish looks, so it isn’t the obvious choice for everyone. But, if you really want to stand out, then Plague Diamond is the camo for you.
Plague Diamond, similar to Dark Matter, is unlocked in multiple steps. To get this camo, you need to unlock the Golden Viper camo for each weapon within a single class. Again, Golden Viper can be obtained once you’ve unlocked all 35 camos for a single weapon. Another long process, but well worth the final result.
1. Dark Aether
Dark Aether is by far the most unique and coolest looking camo on this list. One really interesting feature of this camo is that it’s animated. With purple and black clouds swirling around on your gun, your enemies will surely know you’re not to be messed with.
Dark Aether is also one of the hardest to unlock. You must first obtain Plague Diamond for every weapon class in Zombies. So, again, the order is Golden Viper, Plague Diamond, and then Dark Aether. That is a lot of kills. You better be ready for bloodshed.
As you can see, there are a ton of camo options available; 35 base camos for each weapon and several Mastery camos. These aren’t always easy to get but the fight is definitely worth the final result. You’ll look great and you’ll feel great as you blow through your enemies like it’s no challenge at all.
However, you can’t forget about the actual gameplay. In COD Black Ops Cold War, you can choose from many different weapons and some are better than others. This is also based on your personal play style, though. You can also beef up your gameplay with the many perks and weapon attachments available. Attachments are useful in customizing your weapon stats to perfectly fit your play style.
